Ingredients

1 pc.

500 g Mix for sweet braid
250 ml Water
50 ml Sunflower oil
75 g Candied orange
125 g Dark chocolate chips
q.s. Orange marmalade

Preparation

  1. Pour the mixture into the bowl of the stand mixer, add the water and oil, and turn on the machine. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, until a smooth and homogeneous consistency is achieved.
  2. Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface. Gently roll it out with a rolling pin, without overworking it, until a rectangle about 5 mm thick is formed.
  4. Spread the orange marmalade evenly over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips and orange zest evenly on top.
  5. Roll the dough starting from the long side to form a cylinder.
  6. Cut the roll lengthwise in half and braid the two sections, keeping the cut side facing up. Shape the braid into a ring and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Lightly brush the surface with water to prevent drying, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours.
  8. Finally, brush the ring with a beaten egg and bake it in a preheated static oven at 170 °C for about 20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
